Do you want to know everything today's aspiring screenwriter need to know
about writing and selling a movie script to Hollywood, cable TV, or network television?
Take my screenwriting class.
I will teach you how to tell a story as a film, how to format a script, how to write
compelling scenes, and proven, award-winning strategies for getting the right people to look
at your work. I cover marketing a "spec" script, making a splash at pitch meetings, and much more.
You will learn what today's top agents and producers look for in a script, the types of deals you can expect
to make, as well as an appendix of agents who specialize in handling scriptwriters.
Marc Acito, a student in my Fall 2003 workshop, sold the movie rights to his first novel for $100,000 to a top movie producer.
The classes are held twice a year and meet on Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm at Portland State University in downtown Portland, Oregon.
Cost of the class is $495. Graduate or Undergraduate College Credits may be arranged with Portland State University.
This class meets on 6 alternating Saturdays over 12 weeks. Students start with an idea or a script in progress. At the end of the class students submit a good draft of a full script. Cynthia then reads the completed script and gives the student: written, professional "Script Doctor" feedback.
In past classes, students have ranged from first time screenwriters to writers working on a second or third script.
